![]() They did say that it would very rarely be connected online, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and want it to be up to date and as secure/stable as possible. I did offer them Ubuntu or another Linux Distro, but they want to stick with Windows. I could be completely wrong (but I can't find much information online), but I think the update servers are still available for the existing updates, but I'm aware that it's been out of support now for some time. I remember having to install a couple of updates to then get it working, but can't locate the information - I suspect Vista has the same/similar issue. I've had this with Windows 7 before, and I can't think how I fixed it? I think it was to do with updating root certificates? I've found an offline update pack which I've since used to update the likes of the Windows Update agent and bring it to a 'more modern standard', but I'm still getting the same error code. however, some sites (including Microsoft ones) come back with 'Unable to display this webpage'. ![]() ![]() I get the error message 80072EFD and I've tried disabling the Firewall and can access other websites fine etc. It comes pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, but I can't seem to download updates from Windows Update. I'm currently wiping and resetting a laptop back to factory settings for a friend, as he plans to give it to a family member for playing through some old games.
